Arkansas voted in casinos yesterday. Including one for West Memphis.

Looks as if Southland Greyhound Park may be home to a full casino.

Sounds Good! I'll be taken a dirt nap 6 feet under before that happens in Bama, oh well.

No mention of sports books in the article. Which would create a lot of traffic across the bridge.

The casinos began their entry into the midsouth region in Memphis. Shelby County could not garner enough votes to pass them into law. Then they tried in Desoto County, MS. No go there either. Tunica county? Home run. Now Desoto County and Shelby County deeply resent their lack of support. The parking lots for all of the casinos are almost exclusively taken up with Shelby County and Desoto County license plated vehicles and Tunica County certainly profits from all that the casinos do for them. Incredible. Right? I call it just plain stupid.

Me too. I live in the Dallas area and there are no casinos here. You can cross the border and go to Shreveport, or to Oklahoma. Lots of money leaving Texas and going to neighboring states because Texas doesn't want casinos. My daughter lives in Oklahoma and I pass several casinos every time I travel to see her. Even the small ones sure seem to have a ton of people going to them.

Wait until you pass that casino every Saturday night on the way to the races and the parking lot is full and when you get to the race track the parking lot is empty. I speak from experience and see this many Saturday nights every summer. Casino's are killers of the local economy and really devastating to competing entertainment.

Yeah right, and maybe that's why everyone who lives in Las Vegas is homeless?
