CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 20 of the 27-week 2018 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season will see 13 races in six different states that include Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, and Nebraska. There are eight weeks left for drivers in the four Divisions to turn in 14 weeks’ worth of points, or net on their best 14 weekly totals.

There will be a pair of races on Friday night, 12 tracks will be in action on Saturday night, and there will be one event on the schedule of events for Sunday night. Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS will open Week 20 action on Friday night where the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division and the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division will be competing.

Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA will have Double Features in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division on Friday night with a Week 19 Make-Up Race. The first feature will be the Week 19 Make-Up Race, and the second feature will be the regularly scheduled Week 20 race.

Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will each host all four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions on Saturday night with the Late Models, Street Stocks, the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsmen, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division.

North Alabama Speedway will also present Double Features for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. The first feature race will be a Week 3 Make-Up Race, and the second feature will be the regularly scheduled Week 20 race.

ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, and Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will each present competition for the Late Models, Street Stocks, and Late Model Sportsman on Saturday night. Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN will host the Late Models and Street Stocks on Saturday night.

Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA will host the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division on Saturday night. The Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division will be in action this Saturday night at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA, and at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.

Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division drivers in the Great Plains will have one race on the Week 20 schedule of events with a Sunday night race at Dawson County Speedway in Lexington, NE.

Several drivers in all four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions have reached the 14-week mark in their respective seasons. A driver’s season total in the National point standings is based on their best 14 weekly totals during the 27-week season. Once a driver reaches the 14-week mark, they try to net points by replacing the lowest of their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS leads the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division standings with a best 14 weekly total of 694 points and he will be trying to net on a 49. That means Scarbrough has to win a 50-point race with eight or more cars in the field to improve on his season point total.

Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is second in the Late Model standings with a best 14 weekly total of 685 points, and he will be trying to net on a 46. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and the 2012 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS are tied for third with a best 14 weekly total of 675 points apiece, and both drivers will be trying to net on a 46.

Lee holds the tiebreaker advantage with two wins compared to one win for Washington. Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS is fifth in the Late Model standings with a best 14 weekly total of 674 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41.

Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS has reached the “Perfect Score” of 700 points based on 14 50-point wins in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division. Idom will now be trying to gain more wins in case another driver can reach the 700 point mark over the next eight weeks of competition. Idom has 15 wins in 19 races.

Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is second in the Street Stock standings with a best 14 weekly total of 689 points, and he will be trying to net on a 48. Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL and Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL are tied for the third spot with a best 14 weekly total of 668 points apiece.

Winkles hold the tiebreaker advantage with 11 wins, and he will be trying to net on a 40. Fortner has two wins, and he will be trying to net on a 44. Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is fifth in the Street Stock standings with a best 14 weekly total of 667 points, and he will be trying to net on a 45.

Hayden Duncan of Leighton, AL leads the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman standings with a best 14 weekly total of 691 points, and he will be trying to net on a 47. Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is second with a best 14 weekly total of 685 points, and he will also be trying to net on a 47.

Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is third in the Late Model Sportsman standings with a best 14 weekly total of 672 points, and he will be trying to net on a 45. Cole Brown of Cullman, AL is fourth with a best 14 weekly total of 666 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41. Brandon Crosby of Anniston, AL is fifth with a best 14 weekly total of 658 points and he will also be trying to net on a 41.

Just three points separate the top three drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National point standings going into Week 20 competition. Justin Angle of Anniston, AL holds a one-point lead over Andy Davis of Odenville, AL and a two-point over Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN.

Angle has a best 14-week total of 580 points, and he will be trying to net on a 38. Davis is second with a best 14 weekly total of 579 points, and he also will be trying to net on a 38. Gillespie is third with a best 14 weekly total of 578 points, and he will be trying to net on a 36.
