Cory Hedgecock Claims First-Career Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Win
Durrence Layne Doubleheader this Weekend in Georgia
Loudon, Tennessee (07/18/18 ) –Cory Hedgecock chalked up another career-first on Tuesday evening, when he piloted the Shadden Motorsports #23 Cushman/ K&P Used Cars/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Eagle Racing Engine Super Late Model to the $3,500 win with the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series at 411 Motor Speedway.
While the triumph marked his first-ever with the series, it pushed his overall win total for the 2018 season to 12.
“It took us a little bit to get rolling in the feature, but once we did we were really good,” Hedgecock commented. “Hats off to the entire staff here at 411 Motor Speedway for getting this show in. When it poured this afternoon a lot of tracks would’ve packed it in, but they made the show happen and gave us a great track. I’m very thankful to Shadden Motorsports for giving me the opportunity to drive this awesome car, and I also want to say a special thanks to my dad for all of his hard work.”
Cory Hedgecock was one of 31 Super Late Model pilots in action at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) on Tuesday night for the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern National Series sanctioned contest.
Laying down the fastest time overall in qualifying, Hedgecock earned the pole position for the feature. Losing the top spot early, Cory overtook Michael Chilton on lap 15 to regain the lead. Holding off a hard-charging Eric Wells in the closing laps, Cory Hedgecock streaked to his 12th win of the season in the feature, topping Wells, Michael Chilton, Brandon Overton, and Casey Roberts at the line.
He was awarded a $3,500 payday for his first career Schaeffer’s Oil Southern National Series victory.
