Anyone see that the first AA driver in over 2 decades running in the qualifying race? Hired to drive by a dyed in the wool Conservative GOP team owner.

I seem to recall a lot of talk from AA in the media about teams should hire more AA drivers. Yet almost none of them put their money where their mouth was to form a team. The one group which did quit because they was not given a free pass and sued because they had to play using the same rules as everyone else.

Are there many other African American drivers out there qualified for a Cup deal? I doubt it would help diversity to get a half-dozen black drivers in the field if they're not qualified and likely to crash out because they're unprepared.

I'd say NASCAR does a decent job of representation -- they probably have more diversity on the Cup level this year than ever before.

I don't particularly like the drive for Diversity, but with that said, its brought Kyle Larson, Aric Amarolia, Bubba Wallace and Daniel Suarez.... all good racers!!

Typical audiences closely resemble the venue participants. Neither NASCAR or any other entertainment entity can now afford NOT to be relatively diverse. History has demonstrated that to be true over and over.

And the investigations continue,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Minority participation will not grow greatly for one primary reason. Most drivers have a long family history in the sport going back generations and the cost to start in the grassroots level is such that it take people behind you who are willing to sacrifice everything in order to make your dream come true.

It may take another 20-30 years before we see any significant increases at the grassroots level from minorities. Locally we see that minority participation is less than 5% of the competitors and even less when it comes to fans.

And just who's fault is that, midgeroo? Minorities have long been shunned from participating in many entertainment venues across the board. That is changing, maybe slowly, but it IS changing. As any retail operation, such as Wal-Mart and NASCAR and everything in between, more closely mirrors the population they seek to serve then the better for it they will be. That is simple textbook Marketing 101.

And the investigations continue,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
