Donald McIntosh Scores Trio of Wins; Leads Southern Nationals Points

Dawsonville, Georgia (07/24/17) – Donald McIntosh experienced a career weekend with the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals in his Blount Excavating #7 Ole Ben Franklin Motors/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model. The Georgia racer streaked to a trio of victories, which propelled him to the top of the series standings.

“It was truly an amazing week for our team,” McIntosh said a big smile. “To win three races against such a stout field of racers is a dream come true. My family, my team, my sponsors, and so many other supporters helped make this possible. We’ve got our work cut out for us this if we are going to win the championship, but I have no doubt that our team is up to the challenge.”

For the second round of the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series, Donald McIntosh was one of 23 Super Late Models registered at Tri-County Race Track (Brasstown, North Carolina) on Monday night to do battle for the $3,500 top prize. Laying down the second-fastest time in qualifying behind Brandon Overton, McIntosh earned the 2nd-starting position for the A-Main. After running in a podium spot early in the finale, Donald suffered a flat tire on lap-29, sending him pitside. Rejoining the tail of the field, Donald McIntosh improved one spot in the remaining distance to place 9th.

The following night brought 29 Southern Nationals followers to 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee). Locking his spot into the feature via qualifying, McIntosh timed in fastest overall earning him the pole position. Jumping into the lead on the drop of the green flag, Donald led flag-to-flag capturing his fourth win of the season and a $3,500 payday. Vic Hill, Jake Knowles, David Doherty, and Jason Cardwell completed the Top-5 finishers in the 35-lapper.

After taking a scheduled day off on Wednesday, McIntosh returned to action on Thursday at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Georgia) for the fourth round of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series. Following the fastest time overall in a field of 37 Super Late Models, McIntosh coasted to a 10-lap heat race win positioning him on the pole for the feature. Holding the field at bay after a caution flag came out with five laps remaining, Donald McIntosh wheeled his way to his second-straight victory and fifth win on the season in the 35-lap affair. Pocketing a $3,000 paycheck, Donald topped Brandon Overton, Shanon Buckingham, Shane Clanton, and Riley Hickman at the finish line.

Friday night McIntosh was one of 28 Super Late Models on hand at Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Georgia) to compete in the 53-lap main event. Leading the night off with a heat-race victory, Donald earned the 5th-starting position for the feature. Pacing his way through the race, McIntosh jumped into the lead on lap 32 and held the top spot for seven laps. After losing the losing the lead to Casey Roberts, Donald McIntosh regained the top spot following a late-race caution and held off the field in the final 13 circuits to register his third straight win and sixth overall. With only five cars finishing the 53-lapper, Donald earned a $5,300 payday for his efforts.

On Saturday Donald headed to Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) for the annual Rebel Yell. Moving up one spot in his heat race, McIntosh landed a 3rd-place finish, positioning him 12th on the starting grid for the feature. Breaking into the Top 10, Donald improved four spots in the 51-lap feature to place 8th.
