ADAIRSVILLE, GA - A light schedule of three Saturday night races make up the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 24 schedule of events for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. Just three points separate the top two drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division point standings going into Week 24 competition with six weeks left in the 2019 season.

Saturday night Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division Week 24 races are scheduled for Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division point leader with a best 14-week total of 694 points. Riddle will be trying to net on a 49 in Week 24 action, which means he has to win a 50-point race to gain on his season total.

The defending Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National Champion Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN is second in the National standings with a best 14-week total of 691 points. Gillespie will be trying to net on a 48 in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 24 competition, which means he has to finish first or second to gain any points.

Just eight points separate third through fifth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division point standings. Chuckie Gipson of Tuscumbia, AL is third in the standings with a 14-week total of 647 points, and he will be trying to net on a 43.

Tracy Terrell of Russellville, AL is third in the National standings with a best 14-week total of 645 points, and he will be trying to net on a 40. Blake Cross of Centerville, TN rounds out the top five of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 639 points, and he will be trying to net on a 39.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 29-week season that concludes on October 13.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
