Have the rules changed to the point that the cost of this class has caused some to park them? Seems like the car count is going the wrong way.

Could possibly have something to do with it. Just a few weeks ago Riverside had an event with 30 plus.

I think a bigger factor is we are getting later in a long-racing season and a lot of these guys are out of money and equipment. Throw in the fact that a few of them only run once a month, and it's had a noticeable impact on carcount. JMO.

Every class sees car counts drop this time of year.

There are new cars being built for next season as drivers are moving up from other classes.

Only 60 cars in all classes combined. Usually that number is in the 80s.

By whatever metric you want to compare it's easy to see that local racing is on a downhill spiral. The only solution to that is to put more butts in the grandstands and considering recent demonstrated efforts and policies I doubt that will happen. Many of the owners and promoters of local tracks might take a few lessons in marketing. The audiences and potential audiences of today differ largely from those of years gone by.

Very true. Down here in the Dallas area there is only one track that promotes, and that would be Devils Bowl. I hear radio ads for their big shows on the local hard rock station I listen to. There are four other race tracks in the area (down from a high of nine) and none of the other tracks to anything. Three of them aren't even doing anything on the public forums. You wouldn't even know they were still open.

Another sticking point to me is that we need to shorten the racing season. Growing up the first race of the year at Riverside was always the first Saturday in May, and the last race was usually the second or at most third Saturday in September. Now in the Midsouth we race from February to Thanksgiving.

It's an oversaturation.

There's no urgency from fans or racers because it's a never-ending season.

There's a reason that most sport's season go six months at most. I honestly believe we could make as much if not more money with fewer race dates.

Food for thought.

Graves understood that when college football starts in the south then Saturday night racing ends.

Maybe we can get one of the casinos to create a betting line on who will win Championship at the start of next season that would create some interest.
